Broken hearts, great bells of fire,                               and Kale: The Juice-icator!

The second day out on the farm, we changed things up a bit and we were told to pick Jalapeño peppers. I learned a lot about the experience, including the correct size at which Jalapeños were supposed to be picked at. For all my life, I have considered Jalapeños to be the Russian-Roulette of peppers, in terms of heat I mean. Once I was told that the stretch marks on the peppers were supposed to mean more heat, but as it turns out that the stretch marks indicate that the peppers have just been on the plant for a longer period of time.

While were were being shown the peppers, we were also introduced to a new vegetable called kale. As it turns out, kale is used a lot in smoothies, juices and health drinks (and totally not a champion in the popular game called League of Legends). When it comes to taste, it tastes a bit like sour clover, but without the sour and more bitter.
Once we finished picking peppers for the day, we all hopped into the back of a (very [VERY]) hot van and drove over to a field of watermelons. Once we arrived we were introduced to a variety of watermelons; Some of them seedless, some of them not. Despite the presence of seeds or not, they were all very tasty. Surprisingly enough, the insides of the watermelons remain remarkably cool in the extreme heat of the sun.
